On 6-10 June Stockholm's Old Town will once again form the backdrop to a worldclass musical firework, the 11th edition of the Stockholm Early Music Festival.
Colourful Swiss Ensemble Elyma will open the festival with exotic baroque sounds from Latin America, and German Cantus Cölln bring their dazzling vocal skill. Highlights also include guest appearences by Concerto Italiano and Le Poème Harmonique, both exclusive visits for SEMF and first performances in Stockholm! In collaboration with Drottningholms Slottsteater, SEMF will offer a performance of Cavalli's opera "Jason & Medea". The programme will also feature a memorial concert for Gustav Leonhardt, Faroese "kvaddans", Portuguese early world music, and greetings from the Swedish 18th century poet Carl Michael Bellman.
It's never too late for early music!
