Welcome to XI Stockholm Early Music Festival 6-10 June 2012!
It’s never too late for early music! With this slightly clairvoyant statement that has followed us through the years, SEMF opens the door to another decade of early music where you, dear visitor, are the leading character. The Nordic countries' largest international scene for baroque, renaissance and medieval music presents a world class firework display of musical experiences in the lovely early summer of Stockholm's Old Town.
This year’s delights? The phenomenal maestro Alessandrini conducts Concerto Italiano, top ensemble Le Poème Harmonique visits from France, and German Cantus Cölln bring their dazzling vocal skill. All exclusive visits for SEMF, and first performances in Stockholm! Colourful Swiss ensemble Elyma opens the festival with exotic baroque sounds from Latin America. Also, a memorial concert for Gustav Leonhardt, Faroese ”kvaddans”, Portuguese early world music, greetings from Swedish 18th century poet Carl Michael Bellman…
And the 2012 news: Early Stage in collaboration with the Drottningholm Court Theatre, and the appetizer SEMFaround, offering events around the city before it all begins.
See you there!
