Susanne Rydén & Mark Tatlow – Birger Jarl - a forgotten Swedish Baroque Opera

Now almost forgotten, the play ‘Birger Jarl’, with music by Francesco Antonio Uttini and Henrik Philip Johnsen among others, and text by Gustaf Fredrik Gyllenborg after a sketch by King Gustav III, had its premiere in 1774. During this panel discussion, experts in 18th century opera will participate: Susanne Rydén, president of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music as a moderator, and Mark Tatlow as musical introducer and artistic leader of the musical elements of the seminar.
