V SEMF Christmas Edition offers you a wonderful whole afternoon experience of Early Music in a Christmas-like atmosphere, with some of Sweden's most prominent artists in the field. Let yourself deep down in the soundworld of early music and enjoy one of the oldest theater forms in the world, in an extraodinary historical environment!

V SEMF Christmas Edition opens with a warming coffee and gluh wine mingle hosted in the halls of the Restaurant V50 (Västerlånggatan 50, Gamla stan).
Included in the festival pass!

 A concert with Christmas fragrance in a pastoral spirit, along with Italian Bagpipe dances, makes up a refined and idylic soundscape. The "father of Swedish Baroque music" meets his contemprary French companions. Dan Laurin, world famous Swedish recorder player with a distinct sound awareness and stage presence, is being accompanied by the temperamental and acclaimed harpsichordist Anna Paradiso.

A millenial tradition! Shadow play has fascinated and still spellbindes people all over the world. From the origins by the fireplace, where stories about the hunt or creation myths gathered people around at night, to the religious shadow plays and puppet theatre. A magical world wrapped in speaking silence. Lisa Björkström is a freelancing puppet maker, puppeteer, set designer, educator and animator, as well as the co-founder of Dockteaterkollektivet.

Christmas peace is provided by the beautiful vocal polyphony of the Renaissance, from the Nordic countries and the Iberian peninsula, whith the ensemble members offering their own favourite delights, pieces of a cappella music, a welcome pause in the rush hour before Christmas. Fleder: A lovely sounding unity made up of four beautiful and forged voices belonging to the most requested ensemble singers in Stockholm, that otherwise can be heard in the Swedish Radio Choir and Eric Ericson's Chamber Choir: Jessica Bäcklund (soprano), Charlotta Hedberg (alto), Love Tronner (tenor), Rickard Collin (bass)
Music by Perotinus, Tomás Luis de Victoria, William Byrd and from Piæ Cantiones.
