Welcome to XVII Stockholm Early Music Festival!

Dear early music friends!

Is it really never too late for early music? No! - it can strike young and old at any time in life, exciting and enrapturing both soul and body. Exquisite sounds from the past millenium are rejuvenated in your ears. Welcome to the 17th edition of SEMF, a feast of experiences where music, people, passion and history become one, embedded in the gentle early summer light of Stockholm’s Old Town.

In 2018 we celebrate the European Year of Cultural Heritage. SEMF opens with the magnificent Prague Baroque Soloists and a tribute to J.D. Zelenka, baroque master of the Czech Republic. More to set a baroque enthusiast's heart throbbing: Sigiswald Kuijken and La Petite Bande from Belgium. The beautiful Cantigas de Santa María, performed with Spanish fervour by Xavier Díaz-Latorre & ensemble, are medieval ear candy, as is the unconventional ensemble Mala Punica from Switzerland. Excellent singer duo Anders Dahlin - Berit Solset shines with oratorio arias by Handel, while the British Ensemble Plus Ultra seduces the audience with delicate Renaissance madrigals.

Bulgarian mysteries, Goldberg variations on a mattress, the comeback of Jaap ter Linden - everything old is always new at SEMF! See you there!
